Great news has just landed for our beloved Mario Kart fan! Mario Kart World has received a free update, and it is bringing some seriously explosive fun to the table. Ver. 1.6.0 is now live on the Nintendo Switch 2, and honestly, we could not be more excited about what is included. Let’s dive right in!
Bob-omb Blast
The headline addition to this update is none other than Bob-omb Blast, a brand-new way to play Battle mode. If you have been looking for a reason to jump back into Battle, this is it. The concept is gloriously chaotic. Every single item in the match is a Bob-omb and your goal is to pop your opponents’ balloons using them. No shells, no banana peels, just pure explosive mayhem from start to finish.
What makes Bob-omb Blast feel extra wild is that you can stack up to ten Bob-ombs at once. That’s right, ten! As any Mario Kart fan will tell you, having that many items at your disposal completely changes how you approach the match. Toss them freely, throw them in clusters, or save them up for the perfect ambush. The choice is yours.
Team Up for Maximum Chaos

Of course, the fun does not have to stop at solo play. Bob-omb Blast fully supports team play, so you and your friends can coordinate your explosions for even more satisfying results. When jumping into Battle mode online, the game will now randomly pick from three modes; Balloon Battle, Coin Runners, and the newly added Bob-omb Blast which keeps things feeling fresh and unpredictable every time.
Bullet Bill Gets a Boost
Alongside the new Battle mode, Nintendo has also quietly tweaked the Bullet Bill item. It now offers a wider side-to-side range and makes shortcut opportunities easier to grab right after activation. A small but thoughtful change that our beloved Mario Kart fan will definitely appreciate mid-race.
That is everything packed into Ver. 1.6.0! Go ahead and update your game, jump into a match, and let the Bob-ombs fly. Happy racing!
