Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Producer Talks About the Game

toadette3

Nintendo has always been known to be notoriously silent when it comes to talking about games, consoles, the future and any other rumor that the gossip mill generates about the company on a daily basis. Their silence makes fans turn to each other in an attempt to speculate what the company will do next or what the future will do. It also makes gamers hack into system files or other Nintendo information sources to try and get some information about what the company is working on. This is why whenever a producer or game developer comes out and speaks to a member of the media, everyone likes to get updated as to what was discussed. So, recently Kosuke Yabuki spoke to Nikkei. Kosuke who is the producer (and director of the Wii U release of Mario Kart 8) had a lot of interesting points to share. Yabuki and his ;staff, in particular, choose to uphold former president Satoru Iwata’s philosophy of making the Mario ;games ;accessible to as many people as possible. This plays into his answer about how even after “5 years after the game’s release, that appeal hasn’t faded”. This is very true considering the game has now sold more than 40 million copies. While answering why he thought the popularity of the game is still on the rise and he said it had a lot to do with the game’s unique initiatives like getting to throw stuff at your opponent in an attempt to make them lose. We can agree with this completely, the game’s unique mechanisms have always stood out and led the way in innovation. Yoshi Tour to Be Added to Mario Kart Tour Today

Nintendo’s Mario franchise doesn’t just do well because of our little mustached Italian plumber, but because the franchise has a whole array of quirky and loveable characters that pull at ones heartstrings in all the games. From the villains like Bowser and Bowser Jr to Mario’s sidekicks including Luigi, Donkey Kong, Rosalina, Princess Peach, Wario, Toad and many more. All these NPC’s have adorable graphics, unique personalities and influence the games in amazing ways. Some of these characters also have their own games due to their popularity, our most favorite one being Luigi’s Mansion. If you haven’t played that yet, you definitely need to get your hands on it. With all this being said, our most lovable and favorite character from the Mario franchise apart from Mario himself is definitely Yoshi. Not only does Yoshi make an appearance in many Mario games, but he also has many games in which he’s the main character like Yoshi’s Story and Yoshi’s Island, both of which were a great source of entertainment growing up. It’s nice to see the popularity of all the Mario characters increase over the years to the point where we see most of them being a part of the Mario Kart series or the Mario Kart Tour game because these games are an ode to the entire franchise, in fact, an ode to Nintendo itself. Without all of Mario’s allies and friends, these games just wouldn’t sit right. This is why the latest promised update to the Mario Kart tour mobile game includes an event dedicated to Yoshi. Known for its giant rolling Yoshi egg, the Yoshi Tour will begin on April 5th (today!) and will feature the N64 track ‘Yoshi Valley’. Fans are looking forward to this event as many love the little green dinosaur and love playing as him in the game. Do you play Mario Kart Tour? Happy with Yoshi event update? We’d love to hear from you!

We all love ourselves some Mario Kart rumors, in fact, Nintendo fans have been notorious for datamining leaks, spreading rumors and divulging secrets about not only the firm’s hardware, but most of its popular software franchises too. A day doesn’t go by when someone or the other on the internet claims to have found a new copyrighted remote control or plans for the Switch Pro or the Switch 2. Plus, even though the hype around Super Smash Brothers Ultimate has died down after the final character was released last year, no true Nintendo fan can ever forget what the internet used to be like days before a direct was planned to showcase and highlight a new DLC. Hence, it comes as no surprise that fans can hardly wait for new tracks regarding the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe expansion that’s been announced by Nintendo. Only weeks after the first wave was launched, people have been trying everything in their power to get some sort of information about what tracks are planned for the next drop. The information that is currently circulating the internet is that many tracks that might be added the next time around will be taken from the Mario Kart Tour game, which is a mobile version of the game. Tracks like the ones below are all being rumored to be a part of the next release: Sydney Sprint (Mario Kart Tour)New York Minute (Mario Kart Tour)Singapore Speedway (Mario Kart Tour)Mario Circuit (Super Mario Kart)Sunset Wilds (Super Mario Kart)DK Summit (Mario Kart Wii)Maple Treeway (Mario Kart Wii)Waluigi Stadium (Mario Kart Double Dash)Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 7)Merry Mountain (Mario Kart Tour)Vancouver Velocity (Mario Kart Tour)Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)Vanilla Lake (Super Mario Kart) What do you think? Mario Kart New Tracks – DLC Drop

lakitu7

We’ve been talking a lot about how the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has gotten a new lease on life by the added DLC drop announced in the Nintendo Direct that took place back in February. The first eight tracks dropped on 18th March and there have been many additions to the classic game via this update. New cup names have dropped, which include: Turnip Cup, Propeller Cup, Rock Cup, Moon Cup, Fruit Cup, Boomerang Cup, Feather Cup, Cherry Cup, Acorn Cup, Spiny Cup. The latest track drops include fan favorites like Choco Mountain and Coconut Mall from previous Mario Kart games. As fans slowly accept, play, and dissect the new tracks, mixed reviews have popped up on social media regarding the update. Some fans appreciate the newness and extension that the game has gotten, while others have said that the newer tracks could have been better graphically. From what we’ve seen of fan footage and images on social media, the game looks polished and plays well. We think that this expansion, that’s said to last till 2023 will definitely add many new players to the fan base and ultimately satisfy existing fans too, because no matter what the tracks look like, Mario Kart has become relevant again, with influencers playing the new tracks on twitch, it’s bound to trickle down and involve many players around the world. Have you tried the expansion pack? What do you think of the new track drop?

Thoughts on Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

bowserjr4

We’ve been discussing all things Nintendo and Mario Kart on this blog for a while now, but one Mario Kart game that we haven’t spoken about at all is the live home circuit edition. This game has been controversial since its release in 2020, with many fans claiming that it’s not good enough to be counted as a Mario Kart game. It is a franchise that has always lived up to its game and provided on all the expectations that fans hold for it every time a new one is announced. Mario Kart Live Circuit, on the other hand, has been constantly reviewed as a ‘broken children’s toy’ with it not being anywhere near as good as the $100 market price that it dropped with or the $60 price that it is now on sale at. However, some fans felt that it was a pleasant surprise and was worth the price to see Mario Kart being played live in your home. Moreover, some even pointed out that because it was, after all, a children’s toy, it should be judged by what the target audience thinks it to be, and the target market has been happy with the product. Since they don’t know its limitations and faults, children have loved to play with it. Does that make it a hit? We’re on the fence about this particular Mario Kart game. Our loyalties lie with the franchise, and it isn’t as good as all the other Mario Kart games, maybe the VR and AR technologies of our time let it down, and maybe in a few years, this is what gaming will be like. If you think of it that way, Nintendo might be on to something by laying a foundation for the future, but time will tell. Have you played the Mario Kart Live Home Circuit? What are your thoughts on it?

What Mario Kart Means to Nintendo

link3

Whether we’re talking about home consoles with motion controllers or handheld platforms with significant “Pokémon” titles, the “Mario Kart” series is an incredible powerhouse that dominates sales across Nintendo consoles. With the release of the Nintendo Switch, the company’s power has only grown. As the iconic character for Nintendo, Mario’s instantly recognizable colors and animation has meant that it’s as popular as Mickey Mouse is for Disney. With a major motion picture releasing soon, with a star-studded cast, Mario’s popularity and success will be unparalleled for the company. Having said that, what is it about Mario Kart that always ensures that sales skyrocket, no matter what the platform? Since the 90s, every major Nintendo hardware has been complemented with a version of a Mario Kart game. Kids who’ve grown up on the Wii version games are now adults playing Mario Odyssey or Mario Kart on their switch. Whether it is difficult-to-beat game mechanics, stunning graphics, unique racing tracks, or even the soundtrack that accompanies the races, everything about the game is widely loved and heatedly debated. Moreover, every Nintendo fan is bound to have the game, even though it costs over $60 apiece, which many consider steep. The game is an all-time fan favorite and has sold a whopping 43.35 million copies for the Nintendo Switch as of December 31, 2021. With the expansion pack dropping soon, it’s bound to pick up some more loyal fans along the way.

Would a New Mario Kart Have Been Better Than the Expansion Pack?

yoshi8

As the days roll by and we finally come into March, we wait impatiently for the expansion pack to release for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as announced in the latest Nintendo Direct held on the 9th of February 2022. Even though we have covered the Nintendo Direct in detail (You can read it here if you want), fans of the game were surprised that a new Mario Kart wasn’t announced instead. Some were happy to see 8 Deluxe remain and added on to however, most were a tad bit disappointed that Nintendo didn’t inject new life into the franchise by announcing a new game. The expansion comes on Nintendo’s online service called the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack and can be played on it for free if you have paid for the subscription that came out last year. Fans have debated all these technicalities since the news broke out, but our question is, wouldn’t it have been better if a new game had come out? Or is the expansion a great way to expand the life of one of the most famous Nintendo Switch games right now? A game that has sold 43.35 million copies till date. Could the company be waiting to drop the new Mario Kart edition only when it upgrades the Nintendo Switch hardware? Or is it just a way to increase the number of subscriptions to their online service, which hasn’t been the best? Either way, it leaves us wondering what the future of Mario Kart and the Nintendo Switch looks like considering the 48-track DLC drop has been confirmed to last till 2023. Will the Switch also not get an update till then? Seems unlikely. What are your thoughts on this? Do you prefer the expansion pack and Nintendo’s online service, or would you rather have had a new Mario Kart game?
