Thoughts on Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit

bowserjr4

We’ve been discussing all things Nintendo and Mario Kart on this blog for a while now, but one Mario Kart game that we haven’t spoken about at all is the live home circuit edition. This game has been controversial since its release in 2020, with many fans claiming that it’s not good enough to be counted as a Mario Kart game. It is a franchise that has always lived up to its game and provided on all the expectations that fans hold for it every time a new one is announced. Mario Kart Live Circuit, on the other hand, has been constantly reviewed as a ‘broken children’s toy’ with it not being anywhere near as good as the $100 market price that it dropped with or the $60 price that it is now on sale at. However, some fans felt that it was a pleasant surprise and was worth the price to see Mario Kart being played live in your home. Moreover, some even pointed out that because it was, after all, a children’s toy, it should be judged by what the target audience thinks it to be, and the target market has been happy with the product. Since they don’t know its limitations and faults, children have loved to play with it. Does that make it a hit? We’re on the fence about this particular Mario Kart game. Our loyalties lie with the franchise, and it isn’t as good as all the other Mario Kart games, maybe the VR and AR technologies of our time let it down, and maybe in a few years, this is what gaming will be like. If you think of it that way, Nintendo might be on to something by laying a foundation for the future, but time will tell. Have you played the Mario Kart Live Home Circuit? What are your thoughts on it?

What Mario Kart Means to Nintendo

Whether we’re talking about home consoles with motion controllers or handheld platforms with significant “Pokémon” titles, the “Mario Kart” series is an incredible powerhouse that dominates sales across Nintendo consoles. With the release of the Nintendo Switch, the company’s power has only grown. As the iconic character for Nintendo, Mario’s instantly recognizable colors and animation has meant that it’s as popular as Mickey Mouse is for Disney. With a major motion picture releasing soon, with a star-studded cast, Mario’s popularity and success will be unparalleled for the company. Having said that, what is it about Mario Kart that always ensures that sales skyrocket, no matter what the platform? Since the 90s, every major Nintendo hardware has been complemented with a version of a Mario Kart game. Kids who’ve grown up on the Wii version games are now adults playing Mario Odyssey or Mario Kart on their switch. Whether it is difficult-to-beat game mechanics, stunning graphics, unique racing tracks, or even the soundtrack that accompanies the races, everything about the game is widely loved and heatedly debated. Moreover, every Nintendo fan is bound to have the game, even though it costs over $60 apiece, which many consider steep. The game is an all-time fan favorite and has sold a whopping 43.35 million copies for the Nintendo Switch as of December 31, 2021. With the expansion pack dropping soon, it’s bound to pick up some more loyal fans along the way.

Would a New Mario Kart Have Been Better Than the Expansion Pack?

yoshi8

As the days roll by and we finally come into March, we wait impatiently for the expansion pack to release for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as announced in the latest Nintendo Direct held on the 9th of February 2022. Even though we have covered the Nintendo Direct in detail (You can read it here if you want), fans of the game were surprised that a new Mario Kart wasn’t announced instead. Some were happy to see 8 Deluxe remain and added on to however, most were a tad bit disappointed that Nintendo didn’t inject new life into the franchise by announcing a new game. The expansion comes on Nintendo’s online service called the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack and can be played on it for free if you have paid for the subscription that came out last year. Fans have debated all these technicalities since the news broke out, but our question is, wouldn’t it have been better if a new game had come out? Or is the expansion a great way to expand the life of one of the most famous Nintendo Switch games right now? A game that has sold 43.35 million copies till date. Could the company be waiting to drop the new Mario Kart edition only when it upgrades the Nintendo Switch hardware? Or is it just a way to increase the number of subscriptions to their online service, which hasn’t been the best? Either way, it leaves us wondering what the future of Mario Kart and the Nintendo Switch looks like considering the 48-track DLC drop has been confirmed to last till 2023. Will the Switch also not get an update till then? Seems unlikely. What are your thoughts on this? Do you prefer the expansion pack and Nintendo’s online service, or would you rather have had a new Mario Kart game?

The popularity of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and its other predecessors on all of Nintendo’s gaming platforms is hardly surprising, given that the Mario franchise is one of Nintendo’s most famous brand names. Becoming a household name due to its many games has meant that debates regarding the different elements and features of the game are heated and interesting, to say the least! So, this week, we thought we’d take a look at all the different tracks that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has and which one is the best or is the ‘fan favorite’ so to speak. With lots of DLC coming to the game this very month, on the 18th in fact, that promises a bunch of new tracks which will continue to drop till 2023, we thought this would be a fitting activity. Players have found numerous tracks on the game immersive and exciting, some put it down to difficulty, others to the track’s graphical design and animation, some even choose a favorite based on the particular background music that it has. Whatever the choice, there are clearly some tracks that stand out over others that players love to play. Hyrule Circuit, Animal Crossing, Bowser’s Castle, and Mount Wario are coveted fan favorites that most Mario Kart 8 Deluxe players and fans of the franchise have greatly enjoyed. Most fans, however, chose the N64 version of Rainbow Road as their ultimate favorite track on the game. Which Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track is your favorite? We’d love to hear why!

We’re back with some more Mario Kart content, and this Monday’s post is dedicated to all things accessories. That’s right, wheels, gliders, and karts! Plus, if there’s something that you guys are missing out on by not choosing the proper kart customization. Kart combinations, characters, wheels and gliders all have a certain level of personal preference that comes into play when the selection is made, but what do avid gamers and Mario Kart players say when it comes to these choices? Some go for aesthetics, speed, handling or traction, and some don’t really care about these choices. The question is, should you care about them? Do they make a difference when you race? According to our research, there is some truth behind choosing the right combinations of kart, wheels and gliders. A combination of Donkey Kong: B Dasher Kart, Triforce Tires & Super Glider is a popular choice amongst some fans, who think it provides them with the right speed, balance, and traction. At the same time, others swear by Dry Bowser: B Dasher Kart, Metal Tires & Gold Glider to get their character to victory. Another popular choice is Wario, Bowser, or Morton with the Blue Falcon, Sneeker, or Prancer and Slick or Cyber Slick wheels. Lastly, even with the best kart optimizations, practice really does make a difference. So, if you choose a good combination from this article, make sure you play with it a few times to get your bearings right so that when you play against friends, you’re ready to go. What combinations do you use when you customize your Mario Kart? Please share with us your winning combination. We’d love to hear it!

Best Kart in Mario Kart 8

waluigi2

As we build our content on this Mario Kart website, we’ve spoken so far about the history of the game and which character is the best, but today we’ll shift our focus to the heart of the game: the karts. Is there a certain advantage to using one kart over another? Or is that all nonsense and good players can win with any kart? Let’s take a look! This is a particular topic that gamers have been debating since the first Mario Kart came out and many speculations about which kart can unleash the best and most unbeatable win streaks. This is unique to your style of racing in Mario Kart and probably based on what has worked for you personally in the past, but there can be some advantages according to experts and avid gamers that you can learn to incorporate into your own races to see some difference in your willing percentages. The first thing that our research pointed out was there certainly are some karts and bikes that provide some sort of competitive advantage, these are Flame Rider, Yoshi Bike and City Tripper, Pipe Frame, Cat Cruiser and Comet. Do you think the Karts make a difference? Or are you certain you would still win if handed a random Mario Kart to race in? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

The Best Mario Kart Character?

tmario5

Mario Kart has been around for a while now and with more DLC making its way to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it seems to have given the game a new lease on life. With fans expecting over 48 new tracks to race on, the game’s popularity is at an all-time high, with many new players also making their way to the racetrack because of the said expansion. However, if you’ve been following and playing Mario Kart since its SNES days back in 1992, then you have also probably been asked the penultimate question of which character is the best to race with. Whether it’s Wario, Mario, Luigi, Bowser or any of the other 36 current characters, this question has always been a rather difficult one to answer. Now, in this generation of Mario Kart, it’s even more of a dilemma due to all the other various customization options that one has to make to ensure their Kart is the best. Whether it’s the kart options that help to answer this question or your personal preference of which character you like or has brought you the most luck, the question always seems entirely objective. For this writer though, who has always played with Wario and one many a time, I feel like it’s Mario’s archrival that takes the cake. Or the trophy. Which player do you think is the best player in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Is it a personal favorite or do you have some reasoning for picking that particular character?

The Beginning of Mario Kart

inkling9

Mario is one of the most recognizable Nintendo characters of all time. Maybe, a toss-up between Mario and Pokémon, in my opinion, for the most famous gaming franchise from the Japanese gaming tycoons. Being so famous and having global appeal has meant that we’ve been blessed with many Mario content: games, merchandise, and now even an upcoming movie! While we wait for that to come out, we can still reminisce about the good ol’ days when the original Super Mario Kart came out. It truly is a game that stands out whenever all Mario games are discussed. The popularity of the game can never be overstated and is unmatched. Even though all Mario fans have loved every version of the racing game that has graced our screens, handheld and on TV, the first one was genuinely iconic and still holds a special place in the hearts of many gamers, retro and new. Super Mario Kart started a beautiful era that spurned many a remake. The original Mario Kart game, Super Mario Kart, was published in 1992 for the SNES. Other than Mario Kart Tour, it is the only game in which Donkey Kong Jr. is a playable character, yet it is the only game in which Donkey Kong and Wario (not yet developed) do not appear. The pixelated graphics and the simple sounds really hit a note of nostalgia unlike any other. Do you remember playing the OG Mario Kart? How old were you when it came out?
